Antec P8 @ TechPowerUp

The Antec P8 takes the same basic body we have seen for cases like the Silverstone RL05 or the much more elaborate Aerocool P7-C1, but adds a bit of its own spin. You get the same all-metal interior, including the shroud, which is great, and the same offset cover with the bulging opening within the case that allows for a clean build and the four placements for SSD trays. However, this is where things start to diverge in small but quite profound ways.

Corsair ML120 PRO RGB Fan @ TechPowerUp

Corsair finally added RGB lighting to their excellent ML fans, and with it added, we possibly have the best balance of performance, noise, and aesthetics. Featuring a magnetic levitation bearing, a fine-tuned rotor for high static pressure applications, and four addressable RGB LEDs. "the Corsair ML120 PRO RGB fan is merely the ML PRO LED with RGB LEDs. However, things are not as simple as they might seem. For one, the fan has the same number of LEDs that are hub-mounted (four), but these are individually addressable, so the hardware is capable of more. Secondly, Corsair tells me that in the year since the ML PRO was released, they have continued to tweak the design, so the new fan should not suffer from a performance deficit with the LEDs taking up room and making the blades shorter, which hurt the LL RGB fans. I have here the triple pack of 120 mm fans which, as with their other recent fans, comes with a bundled LED fan hub, their Lighting Node PRO, and all the cables and accessories needed for software control over the lighting."

Swiftech Unveils the ApogeeT Drive II

Long Beach, CA – May 28th  2012, 12:30 PM Pacific Standard Time - Rouchon Industries, Inc. dba Swiftech® today announced the release of the ApogeeDrive II, a CPU waterblock featuring an integrated pump.  Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, the Apogee™ Drive II returns to take its place at the helm of Swiftech's CPU waterblock product line and it includes all the latest and greatest technological advancements that we have to offer todaysaid Gabriel Rouchon Swiftech’s Chairman and CTA.

Derived in general concept from the company’s Apogee™ Drive initially released in 2007, the Apogee™ Drive II much differs from the original in terms of its execution. The original was conceived as a moderate cost unit, using plastic injection molding for its body, the entry-level MCP350 pump and it came with bare essentials. In contrast, the Apogee™ Drive II is conceived as a luxury vessel: its uses the PWM controlled MCP35X, Swiftech’s  most powerful pump to date, a precision CNC machined water-block body that lends itself to easy upgrades for future socket form factors, adjustable inlet and outlet ports, a heatsink to further cool the pump, LED illuminated logo in a choice of 3 colors, braided cables, and the company’s now famous retention system.  The only concession to cost and waste-cutting measure the company made was to not bundle all the retention systems into one SKU, and to make 3 separate product versions.
