A Closer Look:
The EZ-Surf quickly turned into one of them products that made me scratch my head and wonder what the heck they were thinking when they bothered releasing this. It feels like it was a complete product that under-performed so they slapped some "heat absorbing sticky material" in the package and said "here ya go!". It's a useless product before the tape, then it's a hideous product afterwards. I'll save the rest of my rant until after the installation pictures... Installation:
Before I attempted to install the sticky rubbery tape thingy, I mean the "heat absorbing material", I thought there really wasn't anything to this product. It was basically an aluminum slab with some plastic ends. However introduce the sticky pad thingy and we've got a whole new animal. The sticky pad was easy to apply to the unit, however then you need to peel off the top adhesive protector. That's where the problem starts. There was no way to remove it without messing it up. It just wanted to peel off the main unit. This is by far the worst product add-on that I have had the displeasure of working with. I honestly can't believe VIZO would attempt to pass this headache onto the customer. It shows their failure to design and engineer some grippy material into the unit itself. I tried to use the EZ-Surf without the sticky pad and it honestly shot right out from underneath my laptop letting it crash to the table. It's that slick (plastic and aluminum) without it. The angled and smooth edges don't help, they only hurt that problem. Conclusion: This is one of those products I wished I never received. All it did was aggravate me. It's pointless, it's poorly designed and obviously un-tested prior to production. The so-called heat absorbing material seems like nothing more than a pain in the a$$ sticky pad so that your laptop don't slide right off the slick unit. I can't remember the last time I seen a notebook cooler without a single rubber foot or something grippy hold your laptop in place, or the cooler on a table top. However the EZ-Surf has absolutely nothing to hold in place other than the sticky pad which is completely useless. If you're looking for a notebook cooler, move along, nothing to see here.
