Closer Look:

Opened Package

Well one thing great about 4GB kits is just how much longer it'll save you from having to add more memory or upgrading later. And that's 4GB of memory operating at a blistering 1600 MHz guaranteed. There aren't many people that have this kind of memory mainly due to the frequencies. But, if you do have this memory, it obviously can operate at lesser frequencies like 1333 MHz to match your new Core 2 Quad Extreme or Core 2 Duo's Front Side Bus.

Front & Back

Another great feature are the timings. It takes some quality ICs to build a 1600 MHz DDR3 memory kit with 7-7-7-20 timings. Overclocking on these modules is always some what limited. And that's perfectly fine because, if you recall, this is a 1600 MHz memory kit. Why would you want anything faster? If you're an extreme overclocker, then 2GB is always the fastest route.

Spec Stickers

So, in some way, this is an overclocking kit. Chances are that your motherboard will support 1600 MHz FSB easily enough, especially if it supports 1333 MHz FSB processors. That's the optimal operating frequency if you want to tap in to the memory's specified frequency. Keeping these two frequencies in line can mean big performance gains.

Aluminum Spreaders

The obvious features are the Viper Memory heat spreaders. This batch of spreaders on the 4GB kits are silver colored aluminum. They're pretty light weight spreaders if you've not seen them before. One of these days, I'm going to have to "modify" a set. *Evil grin*

The 4GB Pose

Now, as far as overclocking performance goes, 4GB DDR3 kits at this frequency are already pretty tightly designed. There's usually very little room for overclocking due to the layered design. Keeping things in perspective, this is a 1600 MHz memory kit. Most DDR3 motherboards are capable of at least 1600 MHz FSB. Anything above this is icing on the cake, so to speak. I think this will be more than enough.
