Is this what the iPhone 5 will look like?

Here is the first hideous mock up of what some think the iPhone 5 might look like. This image was conceived over at Joshua Topolsky's new site and it's getting press all over the web (see: here too!). I personally hope to hell it looks nothing like this, especially in the thickness, or lack there of, department. I iPod Touch 4 is hard to hold while the iPhone 4 is about as good as it gets for an Apple products. I still have the iPhone 3GS and with a rubberized back cover on it I can hold it. Without one it's like a wet bar of soap.

Here's an excerpt from Thisismynext"In a sketch supplied to us by a source (on which the image above is based), the home button is doing double duty as a gesture area; this falls in line with testing we’ve seen for gestures on the iPad, and our sources say that gestures are definitely coming in a future version of iOS. The home button will likely be enlarged, but not scrapped altogether.

Furthermore, we’re hearing that the screen on the device will occupy the entire (or near to it) front of the phone, meaning almost no bezel. Our source says the company is doing very “interesting things” with bonded glass technology, and has been exploring designs where the earpiece and sensors are somehow behind the screen itself, making for a device where the display is actually edge-to-edge. Regardless, the sketch we’ve seen suggests the screen will go up to 3.7-inches while keeping the current resolution, and at that size, pixel density goes from 326 to 312 (a drop of 13ppi)."

I definitely think there is TOO thin and this would be it for me. What do you think?

The Best Viral Videos of All Time! (IMHO)

Saturday Night Live did a couple of digital shorts that quickly went viral on the web. Andy Samberg and his Lonely Island buddies made these and they are hilarious.

This video along with "Dick in the Box" are my personal favorite viral videos of all time. They're both catchy as hell as well as uber funny. I think what really takes both of these to the next level is that they're so well done. High production value turned into viral longevity. #EPIC #WINNING

What are your favorite viral videos of all time?

"Steal This Film" Really Takes Me Back A Few Years

I just had to watch a couple videos for one of my classes. Steal This Film Part 1 & 2. Good stuff and it really took me back a few years to when Napster, Kazaa and similar sites were really popular. These are a must watch if you're a techie, nerd, geek, or the like.

You can view part two of the series after the break....

Welcome to the New Virtual-Hideout.com!

Hello World,

Welcome to the brand spankin` new Virtual-Hideout.com! The old VH was just that; OLD! It was time to get up to speed with a fresh and dynamic site. There was so many old dead links and stale articles on the old static site that it was time to give it a fresh start along with the facelift.

I originally converted the last five reviews of the old site over to this new site to give the site some content and will continue to post all the new stuff on this site from here on out. There will be more than just reviews here too. I plan on posting about just about anything tech related that I think is cool. If there is a particular "old VH" review or article that you want posted here on the new site, then let me know! I will pick some of the most popular articles and reviews over the years and re-post them on this site when I have free time.

As with many of you I'm sure, I'm addicted to social networking and it's time for VH to try to keep up with me. I'll be putting up all the information for you guys to connect with me and VH down below, and please do. I'm itching to interact with all the VH faithful out there! Thanks for checking out the new Virtual-Hideout.com and I hope to see you back real soon!

P.S. I know this new site is a drastic departure for some but please keep in mind that I'm super busy with wife, kids, college and other real world stuff. I'm doing the best I can. I've bled Virtual-Hideout for 11 years and will do so until the day I die. I want this to be the best site for you guys but I also need it to be easy enough for me to manage. This site will be much easier for me to handle, and at the same time being completely modern. I hope you all embrace it quickly as we continue to refine it and move into the future. Thank you for your patience and understanding. - Diceman (aka. David)

Logitech Wireless Trackball M570 Review

If you're a long time reader of VH, then you all know by now that I hate mice. Literally, I just don't use mice, I don't personally review mice, nor do I get excited by a mouse. I am however completely addicted to my thumb controlled trackball. Way back in the day, I would paint my white Logitech trackman to match my case. Then I got the Microsoft Trackball for a bit, until they stopped making it. Then I went back to the newer Logitech Trackman wheel

Kingwin DM-2536 Dockmaster II Review

Consumers who like to upgrade their computer(s) often, or even upgrade once for that matter, have a need for a product like the one I'm about to show you here. Have you ever had a computer crash on you and you lost all your data? Sucks huh? There is nothing more gut-wrenching then losing a decades worth of your irreplaceable children's pictures because you didn't take the few minutes once in a while to back them up.
